Mississippi State recruiting assistant resigns

Mississippi State athletic director Scott Stricklin won’t say if it’s directly related or not, but recruiting assistant Mark Ouimet has resigned from his position as assistant recruiting coordinator 10 days after being arrested for a DUI, the Jackson Clarion-Ledger reports.

Ouimet was arrested a little after 1 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24 -- the same day Mississippi State defeated Louisiana Tech -- by MSU campus police and charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence and misdemeanor obstructing traffic on campus.

Ouimet, however, stated his resignation was related to the health of his six-year-old son, who lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

“My resignation is strictly related 100 percent to a situation with my son and my family,” Ouimet said.

“Mark has done an unbelievable job for us,” coach Dan Mullen said. “It’s a tough situation for him.”
