Tulsa receiver pleads guilty to embezzlement

If you’ll remember from a story the Tulsa World ran back in August, Tulsa wide receiver and All-American Damaris Johnson was caught up in a bizarre embezzlement case involving significant discounts of merchandise he received at a Macy’s department store where his girlfriend, Chamon Jones, worked.

According to reports, Johnson paid just over $13 for roughly $2,600 in merchandise.

Johnson was arrested and taken into custody on a felony embezzlement charge just a few days after news broke of the incident; Jones was also charged. Today, Johnson pled guilty to that charge and was given a deferred sentence.

Johnson and Jones will not face any jail time if they complete one year’s probation in addition to their plea agreement of fines and 80 hours of community service.

The receiver is still serving an indefinite suspension by coach Bill Blankenship.
