Dislocated ankle, broken leg sideline FSU’s McDaniel for rest of ’11

The prognosis on the injury suffered by Jacobbi McDaniel in Florida State’s win over Duke was expected to be dire, and unfortunately for the player and the program that is indeed the case.

Head coach Jimbo Fisher confirmed Monday that the veteran defensive tackle suffered a dislocated ankle and a broken fibula in his right leg Saturday on just the sixth play from scrimmage. As a result, the junior will miss the rest of the 2011 season.

Surgery will be performed on the injured limb Tuesday in Tallahassee.

“He was getting better and better and really getting in his groove of playing,” Fisher said. “You miss his experience.”

The Blue Devils game was McDaniel’s first start of the season. McDaniel started all 14 games in 2010.
