No, really. That’s what happened. It wasn’t a metaphor.
Not that we were going to find out any details from Missouri’s Board of Curators about the school’s conference intentions today, but local media had to at least ask, right? Well, they didn’t even get that chance, as the school’s BoC and athletic director Mike Alden, who attended today’s session closed-door executive session, exited the UMKC Student Union through the back door after the meeting adjourned.
A spokesperson then came through the front where board should have exited and said no action had been taken and there was no comment to be made. The board is also set to meet tomorrow in the second day of meetings that many believe will result in the school announcing its departure from the Big 12.
Even tomorrow, there may not be anything to report.
“I will probably have nothing to say on that until Friday,” board chairman Warren Erdman told the Kansas City Star. “If there is anything to say then.”
Hopefully, though, they’ll exit through the front to say something.
Come on, Ben, responsible leaders don’t go out the back door when they know their fellow Missourians want to know (as do many others), do they? Maybe, they want the interim president Dr. Stephen J. Owens to speak on the matter?
Maybe the Dr. Owens needs to speak again with President Slive of the SEC? Maybe Dr. Owens needs to send another bottle of Kentucky’s finest and his favorite Double Corona cigars to Slive and ask what the latest unofficial tally is of SEC university presidents? Maybe the president will exit via the front door on Friday and announce they have left the Big 12 and are heading for the hugely competitive and habitually BCS National Champion SEC? Maybe, just maybe, the ducking out the back door is setting up a triumphant front door exit on Friday?
Cowards.
Whatever their decision ends up being it will be unpopular, and they can’t take the heat.
Again another non story. Come on Ben.
That is all to set up for Friday. The big announcement is to come….but maybe we might have 4 or 5 more CFT stories on it by Friday? Say it is not so Ben.
I for one enjoy these “non-stories” so yalls can just stfu and let me have a lil juice with my “news”.. okay???
If I was a writer covering the Mizzu realignment, and the BOC refused to provide any info to the media or the public (they are a public school, right?), and if they sneak out the back door – then I guess the smart thing to do would be to right about how they chose to sneak out the back door rather than face the public.
That bunch can’t find their asses with both hands tied behind them. Keep vacillating and Missouri will be on the outside looking in on the SEC, B1G and Big 12.
So now Missouri is the “Show Me (The Back Door)” state?
That’s what she said
Sneaking out the back door is a good metaphor for what Missouri is about to do. Freaking cowards.
I respect the way Missouri is approaching this difficult decision.
I hope they join the SEC
More foreplay …
