Video: Debating the impact of LSU suspensions

Expected by the oddsmakers to be nothing more than a relative blip on their trip toward Tuscaloosa, LSU’s game with Auburn Saturday took an unexpected turn earlier in the week when it was reported that a pair of starters and their top nickel back would be suspended for the game in Death Valley.

During Wednesday’s “NBC Sports Talk” show on Versus, Yahoo!‘s Dan Wetzel and OutkickTheCoverage.com‘s Clay Travis discuss what ramifications there could be for the Auburn game given the suspensions of cornerback Tyrann Mathieu, running back Spencer Ware and cornerback Tharold Simon and whether the players will return following the bye week for the 1-2 matchup with Alabama.

JT: We understand cross advertising. Promoting “NBC’s Sports Talk” …is it reciprocal…do they promote College Football Talk for you? Just wondering.

There is no evidence provided that this was a second offense for any of these players. Thus far, all we know is that they violated team rules about something. These three players will be suspended for the upcoming game. They will not be allowed back on the team until they take some actions.

Coach Miles and his staff have made it clear to these players, that playing for LSU is a privilege, not a right. With that privilege comes responsibilities. What other young people do, they cannot do. They are leaders, not followers. Many younger people look up to them. With the media spotlight on LSU at this time due to their BCS #1 ranking, they must live and act with character that is expected of them.

Yep, understand the cross-promoting, but as many have said to Florio … I don’t want no stinkin’ videos … or something to that effect ;)

So … without bothering to listen to Clay Travis give what I’m sure is a scintillating opinion on the matter, I’ll just agree with southernpatriots. Coach Miles is making wise decisions for his team, and more power to him. Losing valuable talent hasn’t hurt the Tigers so far. And they will get back these players before the Bama showdown. I think LSU will be just fine.
