Darron Thomas questionable, LMJ doubtful against Colorado

Darron Thomas

Despite being heavy favorites to win today’s game at Colorado, Oregon enters Boulder banged up. Running back LaMichael James is still recovering from a dislocated elbow he suffered a couple weeks ago against Cal, and quarterback Darron Thomas was iffy this week after aggravating his knee last Saturday against Arizona State.

Because head coach Chip Kelly doesn’t disclose injury specifics, it was uncertain what the playing status was of either start today. At least on the fist offensive series, we have an answer.

James, although in pads and a sleeve for his injured elbow, was not on the field. He probably isn’t a go today; Bryan Bennett started at quarterback for the Ducks after finishing last week’s game against ASU for the injured Thomas. Thomas looked more promising in terms of seeing the field, but Kelly will likely stick with Bennett.

In any case, the Ducks marched right down the field on their first offensive possession in break-neck time and scored on a Kenjon Barner touchdown run. Oregon leads Colorado early 8-0 following a successful two-point conversion.
