Cliff Harris’ family looking to battle traffic citations

At the beginning of this week, Oregon cornerback Cliff Harris was busted by Eugene Police Department for driving with a suspended license, driving while uninsured and with no seat belt. Pulled over for being observed without the seatbelt, Harris was then suspended indefinitely by head coach Chip Kelly. It was, after all, just a few months after Harris had been pulled over for doing nearly 120 mph on his way back to Eugene.

While there’s no debating Harris’ decision-making ability, Harris and his family are trying to refute the claims that Harris drove with a suspended license and with no insurance for his latest offense.

In an interview with the Eugene Register-Guard, Harris’ father, also named Cliff, claimed that he had paperwork showing that the suspension on his son’s license was lifted after a 60-day period. In other words, Harris was driving with a license that was past that suspension, and thus okay to use.

Harris’ father also said the family can produce proof of insurance for the car Harris was driving when he was pulled over Monday. The family is currently seeking legal advice to see if modifications to the charges can be made.
