Good news: UCLA safety okay after immobilizing hit

There was another scary moment during Saturday’s game between Cal and UCLA when Bruins safety Dietrich Riley took a nasty collision and was on the field for several minutes before being carted off the field.

Riley initially didn’t have feeling in parts of his body, but upon arriving to a local hospital, feeling had returned. He was released the next day in time to return to film study with his teammates.

Everything has checked out fine,” coach Rick Neuheisel said. “He was here today and looked great and says he’s ready to go. The doctors want to be careful and they’ll look at him tomorrow and we’ll see about his availability for this week, but to hear Dietrich and to see Dietrich, you’d say he’s going to be just fine.”

UCLA beat Cal 31-14.
