DE Gosha quits the Hogs

After playing in the first four games of the 2011 season, Arkansas’ Lonnie Gosha hasn’t seen the field since.

Now, he’s taken steps to ensure his playing time will be nil for the remainder of the year. Or ever again, apparently.

Head coach Bobby Petrino announced Thursday that Gosha has decided to quit the Razorbacks football team. No reason for the abrupt departure was given, although the fact that he’d played in as many games as I have since Sept. 24 could’ve conceivably played a role.

The true freshman defensive end started two of the four games he played this season.

There’s no word on where Gosha may continue his collegiate career. As a three-star member of the Razorbacks’ 2011 recruiting class, the Lake Butler, Fla., product received scholarship offers from, among others, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami and Tennessee. A couple of weeks before signing day, he had reportedly whittled his college to-do list down to the Razorbacks and Hurricanes.
