Illinois linebacker shot in hand at party after Michigan game

There’s some scary news from Champaign today as Illinois linebacker Trulon Henry was shot in the hand during a party early Sunday morning, according to the Champaign Gazette-Times.

Henry was reportedly called to the party by a teammate to encourage other teammates to leave. While there, shots were fired and Henry was one of three people injured.

The way it’s being reported, it sounds like Henry was at the wrong place at the wrong time. The Detroit News adds that a fight had broken out prior to shots being fired. Whether or not Henry was part of that incident is unclear. He had surgery today and will miss the rest of the regular season.

Henry ranked ninth on the team with 39 tackles and was tied for first on defense with two interceptions.
