Cyclones receiver facing robbery charges

After what was a rather quiet start to the month of November on the legal front, all arrest hell has broken loose the past 24 hours.

The latest to find himself -- or, technically, who will soon find himself -- on the wrong side of a pair of handcuffs is Iowa State’s Albert Gary, who will be charged in connection to an attempted robbery that occurred back in June.

According to the Cedar Rapids Gazette, ISU police officials have filed the necessary paperwork on the robbery charges Gary will be facing and are merely awaiting a judge’s Herbie Hancock before arresting the receiver. The charges will stem from an incident June 19, the Ames Tribune reports.

According to a June 19 police report, two people were approached by a group of men at 2:26 a.m. One man allegedly frisked them and displayed a BB gun.

The report said nothing was taken and that no one was injured.

Head coach Paul Rhoads said Monday that Gary has already served a three-game suspension and will play against Oklahoma State Friday.

In six games this season, Gary has seven receptions for 76 yards.
