Keith Price’s status unknown for Oregon State game

The knee injury to Washington quarterback Keith Price could sideline the sophomore for at least one game. Coach Steve Sarkisian said in his Monday news conference that Price, who sprained his left knee in the third quarter against USC, would have an MRI on the injury and was questionable for Saturday’s game against Oregon State.

Really after the sack in the pileup he got twisted up pretty good, so there is some swelling there,” Sarkisian said. “We don’t think it’s significant from a long-term standpoint but we want to make sure of that and then we need to monitor the swelling in the knee. It’s a lot more swollen than it has been.”

Sarkisian added that if Price can’t go that redshirt freshman Nick Montana would get the start against the Beavers. Since Price is likely day-to-day at this point, Washington looks like they’ll prepare with Montana unless there’s a significant and immediate upgrade to Price’s status.

“We will prepare ourselves for Nick Montana to make his first start Saturday, and if things change, then things change,” Sarkisian said. “But I think you have to prepare for that so that we don’t get caught off guard late in the week.”

Price and Montana were neck and neck for a while during spring practice, but Price eventually got the nod. Montana is 13 of 20 for 147 yards, one touchdown and one interception on the season.
