UK down two defensive starters vs. UGA

Thanks to the fact that they are, well, playing Kentucky today, Georgia likely won’t need a whole hell of a lot of help in clinching the SEC East title this weekend.  Now, thanks to injuries, the Bulldogs will be facing a Wildcats team further depleted by injuries.

Head coach Joker Phillips confirmed late this week that LB/DE Ridge Wilson and safety Martavius Neloms will not play against UGA Saturday.  Wilson injured his shoulder two weeks ago and did not play against Vanderbilt last weekend, while Neloms injured his ankle in the loss to the Commodores.

Wilson had started the first nine games of the season and is fifth on the team with 47 tackles.  Neloms started the first 10 games and is third in tackles with 71.

Alvin Dupree is listed behind Wilson on UK’s latest depth chart, while Neloms’ backup is listed as Ashely Lowery.

I would say, if Joker had any ideas of taking up that free dinner invitation if they beat UGA, he need not pack his bags now. They were a 31 point underDAWG as it was, but now, I would think, the people who fix these odds in Vegas, are shaking in in their boots, given the people that will now bet on that point spread being eclipsed. It will most likely be over in the first half, and UGA will be playing ball control, and a lot of back ups, in order to not humiliate Jokers team. Joker should make it a point of thanking CMR after the game for not doing that. CMR did the same thing for Auburn, and that says loads about his character and decency as a person. With only Tech. remaining in the regular schedule, I doubt he will feel the need to boost the DAWGS spirits or get the tech. team, to notice them. I think UGA heads into the SEC Championship game on a 10 game win streak, and I am sure will not be heavily favored against the west opponent. Most likely the betting line will 10 or better for the west. West beware though, UGA has a pretty good defense, and their offense is better than LSU, Alabama and I think the equal of Arkansas, but more well rounded due to the running game. It remains to be seen how well the offense can move against the two top west Div. teams, but I would not count them out at any time.
