On the same day he was named the Mountain West’s special teams player of the week based on his kicking prowess, TCU’s Ross Evans now finds himself in some legal hot water for displaying those talents off the field.
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Evans is facing a misdemeanor charge of criminal trespassing for an incident that allegedly occurred in Denton, Tex., Nov. 8. A warrant had been issued for his arrest after, the paper writes, he kicked in an apartment door while trying to retrieve a cell phone for a friend of a friend.
Monday morning, Evans turned himself in on the warrant and was arrested, but was released from jail a short time later. TCU is aware of the incident and is still in the information gathering stage.
A source close to the door tells CFT that it was briefly hospitalized following the incident, but has since returned home and is currently “just hanging out and whatnot.”
Evans has hit on 13-of-16 field goal attempts this season -- 14-of-17 if you count the door -- and his 88 points are good for 17th among kickers.
