Getty ImagesWhen we woke up Sunday morning, reports were already making the rounds that Paul Wulff‘s firing as Washington State’s head coach was imminent, possibly coming as early as today.
With Sunday about to turn into Monday, Wulff’s Wazzu coaching career is still breathing. Barely.
In a statement released tonight, WSU athletic director Bill Moos said discussions into Wullf’s future at the school took place this afternoon and that no determination had been made on the coach’s job status.
“Paul and I met for an hour and a half this afternoon so I could hear his assessment of the season and where he would like to take the program from here. Our discussions will be ongoing,” Moos’ statement read.
That said, it would be classified as more than a mild surprise if Wulff were to survive beyond tomorrow, let alone live to coach another season at the school.
washington state has a football team?
Hire Ryan Leaf!!
What, no Urban Meyer post yet? His agent, former Dolphins DE Trace Armstrong, announced Meyer has accepted the OSU job.
Wulff needs another season, IMO. He has the offense working pretty well, considering the devastation of the QB injuries.
This about sums up the Paul Wulff regime for me….
“Only the 1979-82 Oregon State Beavers (3-40-1) have lost as many as 40 games in four years in the history of the Pac-12, which traces back to the Pacific Coast Conference in 1916.”
That is unacceptable.
The fact that he made it this far shows what kind of commitment, Wazzu makes to winning.
