After getting benched early on in the season favor of fellow quarterback Sean Mannion, Ryan Katz has decided to move on from Oregon State and pursue the end of his collegiate career at another school.
In an official release from OSU, coach Mike Riley said Katz, a redshirt junior, will be eligible to play immediately next season provided he plays at a school outside the Pac-12 and pursues a post-graduate degree. Katz is expected to finish his degree at Oregon State in the spring.
“After discussing this issue with my family I have decided to seek other academic and athletic opportunities,” Katz said. “I have been granted my release from Oregon State and I plan to transfer as a graduate student with one year of eligibility remaining. I have considered Corvallis home for the past four years and it’s been filled with many experiences and life lessons. I want to thank all my supporters and I look forward to writing the next chapter of my story.”
Katz threw for 2,722 yards and 19 touchdowns in his career at Oregon State.
