Sooners to be sans starting WR for bowl game

Oklahoma has already lost one of the top wide receivers in the country to a season-ending injury. Now, the Sooners will be without another starting wide receiver for their bowl game as well.

OU announced Saturday that Jaz Reynolds will not play in the Dec. 30 Insight Bowl matchup with Iowa. Reynolds has been hospitalized since the loss last weekend to Oklahoma State in the regular-season finale with a kidney injury.

Reynolds is currently third on the team in receptions (41), receiving yards (715) and receiving touchdowns (five).

In addition to Reynold’s status, OU also confirmed that backup running back Brandon Williams and fullback Aaron Ripkowski will not play in the postseason game against the Hawkeyes due to injury. The former will be sidelined by a neck injury, the latter a back issue.

“We’ve had some significant injuries over the last half of the season, but this is an opportunity for other players,” Stoops said in a statement. “We’re excited about our trip to Tempe and the opportunity we’ve got to reach 10 wins.”
