When Nebraska takes the field against South Carolina in the Capital One Bowl, they could do so without a starting member of its offensive line.
Multiple media outlets are reporting that center Mike Caputo was arrested early Sunday morning on the suspicion of drunk driving. HuskerOnline.com writes that “Caputo was one of 17 people Lincoln police arrested on suspected drunk driving charges in the span of four hours.”
Here are the details from the Omaha World-Herald of what led to Caputo’s legal situation:Caputo, 22, appeared to be asleep when police located him inside a 2010 Ford F-150 around 1:07 a.m. Sunday at a U-Stop Convenience Shop at 110 W. O Street, according to a police report. The vehicle’s engine was running and its lights were on, according to the report.
Caputo was transported to a detoxification center. A preliminary test revealed that his blood-alcohol level was .103 percent. The legal limit in Nebraska is 0.08 percent.
"(I) am awaiting more information before making any further comment,” head coach Bo Pelini told the World-Herald through a school spokesperson.
Caputo has started the past 26 games in the middle of the Cornhuskers’ offensive line. As for potential punishment the senior could be facing, HuskersOnline.com notes that two ‘Huskers arrested on drunk-driving charges prior to the Holiday Bowl last year were suspended for the postseason game.
