Chad Morris inks six-year deal with Clemson to make him highest paid assistant

Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris has quickly become 2011’s version of Gus Malzahn.

Travis Sawchik of the Charleston Post and Courier noted last week that Morris, who was reportedly courted by Ohio State under new coach Urban Meyer, had agreed in principle to a new contract worth $1.3 million annually for six years.

According to CBS’ Bruce Feldman, that contract, worth $7.8 million, has been inked. The new contract is a raise of almost $1 million annually; Morris had signed a four-year deal at $450,000 annually earlier this year.

The new deal makes Morris the highest paid assistant in college football along with Malzahn.

The Tigers averaged 24 points and 334.6 offensive yards a game last season; they are averaging 33.6 points and 440.6 yards this year.

Clemson will play West Virginia in the Orange Bowl.

Another occupant albeit a well paid one for the Clemson Clown Car.

Follow the clown car to the Orange Bowl as you go and lose your bowl as usual. USC stands for University of Second Choice in South Carolina.

    Ha packerman13,
It’s like that saying, “You know what Clemson and University of South Carolina graduates both have in common?”

They both got accepted at USC and neither wanted to go there.

Good for Clemson for finally ponying up the money to keep a big-time coordinator, hopefully this is them finally turning the corner…with Dabo’s lack of coordinator experience, it will be well worth it. Dabo also likes the spread and Morris’ calling of it. Let Morris run the offense and Dabo do what he does best, talk and recruit

I always read every article about South Carolina (sorry, you’re not USC) and Clemson. Listening to you guys go after each other makes my day.

Iigottz5onit – very nice shot. Keep up the good work.

Nice to know that South Carolina wiped the field with the ACC champs. Money well spent.

Directions to Clemson: north until you smell it, west until you step in it. Go ‘Cocks!

At least Clemson wasn’t 1-2 against teams with winning records. Unlike the Shamecocks Clemson wins bowl games and has won a National title. Oh yeah SC once won the SEC East (ONCE) then set a record that will never fall for futility in the SEC Championship game.

How long can you live off a national title that was won in 1980 and resulted in probation? Please come with more than that. Hey if your happy with Daba Dabo so am I.

Very happy with Dabo. In his second full season he won an ACC title and is playing in a BCS bowl.

Shamecocks know what BCS bowls are; they always watch them on TV.

BTW nice spin. Too bad you have no answer for the fact SC set the futility record, wins one game a year against a winning team and can’t win a second rate bowl game. Glad you love Spurrier. So do SC opponants!

Congratulations Mr. Morris. One of the best OC’s in the country imo. And to Jokybon, or whatever you call yourself: you must be a sad, miserable person. You really are a class act.

I’m sad and miserable and yet you create childish names to post under and feel the need to insult me. Once again you can’t debunk anything I say, so you attack me. You’re not alone. Its hard to face the fact you root for a sorry program with a history of cheating and losing. Stick with baseball. Crapolina is good at that.

Well I guess you have had your head in the sand the last three years Carolina has dominated your kittens on the field. Not only in football but baseball and basketball as well. Guess you missed my point, the fourth best team in the SEC dominated the ACC champions. You and I both know the ACC is average in football at best.
