Huskers DE cited for leaving the scene of an accident

It’s not been a good couple of days on the legal front for the Nebraska football program.

Reports surfaced Monday that starting center Mike Caputo had been arrested for suspicion of drunk driving early Sunday morning. Now one if his teammates on the defensive side of the ball has found himself in a bit of a legal predicament, albeit not nearly as serious as the charge facing Caputo.

According to the Omaha World-Herald, defensive lineman Eric Martin was cited Sunday for leaving the scene of an accident and failing to provide information. Martin reportedly backed his 1997 Oldsmobile Aurora into a 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo outside of a Lincoln Walmart Saturday night, and then left the scene.

Martin’s vehicle suffered $500 worth of damage compared to $2000 for the unoccupied Chevy.

Police ultimately tracked Martin down at his residence and issued the citations.

Martin played in 11 of 12 games this season -- missing the season finale vs. Iowa due to injury -- starting two of those contests. The junior has three tackles for loss and two sacks this season.
