Coaches do have the right to look for better jobs, but the way this guy handled himself is the epitomy of low class and dishonor.

He make all kinds of statements of his commitment to building the Pitt program over a period of years – both during his recruitment and after taking the job. To take a very high paying job that involves rebuilding a program, and then leave in nine months for another job is despicable. Honor and integrity are not part of his character.

I’d love it if the Pitt quarterback decked him with a good hard shot to the face on the way out the door.

We had Todd at Tulsa and were glad when he left. He will not empower his assistants to coach, the kids did not respect him and he will jump ship quickly for the almighty dollar. He professes to be a man of God, then used the F word on national tv, cusses kids out on game day within earshot of fans, other players and coaches. He also does the same to his assistants under the same conditions. And he is the mentor of young men?

Todd Graham hire means we are going to PAC 16 soon..
Say what you will about LL but Michael Crow is a bright man. He is a business man and I am sure he can make an accurate guess at future revenue streams for ASU. If it looks like we will be going to super conferences soon, then Oklahoma, UT, T Tech and OK St are joining the Pac. If ASU don’t start developing connections and recruiting yesterday in the Texas, OK areas, we are going to be caught in no man’s land, getting table scraps from both west and east areas. The Cali kids will want to play in or around Cali and obvsiouly Tex and OK dominate recruiting in their area. ASU will need to expand their recruiting east to compete.
The Graham hire makes sense if they do that within 3-4 years. I don’t mind the hire but I hate the thought of Pac 16 and ASU being put in the east division.

Pitt’s AD didnt give him permission to interview so he had to resign. I bet the AD didn’t even want him on the campus after the resignation, hence the letter…that was then texted to the players by Pitt personnel. You should be mad as well with the Pitt admin for texting it out instead of gathering the team for cupcakes and warm apple cider to read it.

Pitt & their Alums, should have done the right thing to began with and hired Tom Bradley last offseason. Now with the scandal he’ll never get the job & with Pitt moving to the ACC their chance of winning a conference title just went down again. Don’t worry a year from now Randy Edsall will be available.

Pitt has had a fair amount of success, even within the last few years. Yes, they should have better fan support but I’m guessing attendance really only matters in terms of revenue and if they can get by on that money, more power to them.

That would be nice if it could be done, however, most H.S. kids finish their football season at about the same time, and are ready to commit, to a college then. They need to know, that the guy recruiting them will be there for next season.
You could of course fix that,to some degree, by having the time between the regular season end and bowl games, as a no recruiting time, but kids are still going to commit verbally during that time. At least this way, they know that one way or another, the coach will or will not be there, if the reason they are going to that college, is the coach.

The NCAA has to do something about coaches being pulled away from teams in between the regular season and bowl season. What are the players suppose to think and then play in a bowl game. There should be a rule that universities can not talk to any coaches until after the last bowl game.

As a Texan (like Graham), I have to think this is a good hire for Arizona State, but I feel sorry for Pitt. Could things get any worse there?

And *of course* he’s a phony guy. That’s the personality type of almost all football coaches. It’s practically a job requirement. You have to have two faces. You have to be able to tell a guy you like how he’s playing and then cut him the next day. Lying gets you recruits. It gets you success. Hate to say it, but it’s true.

I don’t think his personality-type fit in too well at Pitt. It’s a Northeastern place with a Northeastern style, and he’s from the Southwest. He stuck out like a sore thumb, but he still tried to make it work.

His style will fit in much better at Arizona State. “High octane” offense is just what they need to compete in the conference.
