FSU corner arrested after alleged iPad theft

There’s a bizarre story coming from Tallahassee this weekend as Florida State cornerback Avis Commack was arrested Friday on a third-degree felony of grand theft.

According to Warchant.com, the alleged theft happened back on Dec. 6, when a female victim was studying in a computer lab where the football facilities are located. A police report of the incident states the victim left her station to get a drink, and when she went to leave the computer lab a short time later, she noticed her backpack, which was carrying an iPad, was gone.

A FSUPD investigator was able to track the iPad through logins to the university network, and the device recorded three logins with Commack’s student information. More from Warchant:

The officers came to University Center D - the football facility and offices - to meet with Commack. [Deputy Chief Jim] Russell said that Commack handed over the iPad and told the officers “Here, this is the iPad I found.”

Commack told officers that he found the iPad in the stairwell on Dec. 8 and wiped away the old information on the iPad and inputted his own earlier in the day on Dec. 9. Accordnig to the report, he told officers that he realized it was wrong to keep the iPad.

Commack wasn’t immediately arrested, but he did turn himself into police on Friday after the victim issued a warrant for his arrest on Wednesday. The redshirt junior was booked and released by the Leon County Sherriff’s Office and wasn’t required to post bail.

Interestingly enough, Commack graduated from FSU this past weekend as well (go ahead and insert “he was just getting himself a graduation present” jokes at your own leisure).
