RGIII named AP Player of the Year

Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III keeps racking up the postseason honors. Already named first team All-American by the Associated Press, Griffin has now been named Player of the Year by the AP. He received received 43 of 56 votes.

Griffin becomes the first Baylor player to ever receive the award, just as he was the first Bear to win the Heisman Trophy. He led the nation this year in pass efficiency (192.31) and was second with 386.83 yards of total offense per game. He accounted for 45 touchdowns on the season.

Baylor and RGIII -- perhaps in his last game -- will face Washington in the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 29.
