APAfter staying mum on the situation leading up to the Holiday Bowl, Texas has announced a starter for tonight’s game.
Freshman David Ash will get the start for the Longhorns against Cal over Case McCoy. Whether it’s Ash who finishes the game remains to be seen. It wouldn’t be a surprise at all if both quarterbacks saw time tonight; that’s how it’s been practically all season.
Ash has six interceptions and no interceptions in the final seven games of the season (since the Red River game against Oklahoma); McCoy hadn’t thrown an interception all year until he threw four against Baylor in the Longhorns’ season-finale. Combined, the two have thrown for nearly 2,000 yards, 10 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
Unless one of these quarterbacks breaks out of his shell tonight, expect UT to ride their group of young running backs, who are finally healthy.
Not going so well yet. Basically no offense so far.
