Khaseem Greene suffers nasty ankle injury in Pinstripe Bowl

The final seconds are ticking off the game clock at the Pinstripe Bowl and Rutgers is going to walk away with a solid win over Iowa State by a final score of 27-13.

That win was not without some bad news, however. Star linebacker Khaseem Greene, who just a few weeks ago was named Big East co-Defensive Player of the Year, sustained a nasty ankle injury that required him to be taken off the field on a stretcher.

Greene fell awkwardly and his ankle twisted in a way that I’m pretty sure the human body is not meant to. He was down on the field for several minutes. His teammates made their way on to the field to see him off as he was taken for more medical attention.

Greene had 127 tackles on the season and announced the day after Christmas that he would be returning for his senior season.

We’ll have more from the Pinstripe Bowl a bit later. For now, the victory is bittersweet.
