Syracuse DE Chandler Jones latest to make NFL leap

In a move that hardly could be described as unexpected, Chandler Jones has officially played his last down as a member of the Syracuse football program.

By way of a press release, the Orange announced that Jones will forego his final season of collegiate eligibility and enter the 2012 NFL Draft. Jones will follow in the NFL footsteps of his brother Arthur Jones, a 2010 Syracuse graduate and current Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle.

Jones was an All-Big East selection each of the past two seasons, and started the last 20 games in which he played for the Orange. Despite missing five games due to a “lower body injury”, Jones led the Orange in sacks with 4.5 and his 7.5 tackles for loss tied for third.
