Penn State protesters occupying TicketCity Bowl

Well, I guess we probably should have seen this coming.

Penn State’s decision to accept a bid to the TicketCity Bowl against Houston -- which is set to kick off here in just over an hour -- was met with some criticism. Some wondered if the school, which has been embroiled in controversy with the Jerry Sandusky sex scandal, should be accepting any postseason bid at all.

That’s a ridiculous notion -- all you do is punish the players -- but low ticket sales and roster issues at quarterback have already presented problems for Penn State.

Now they have protesters.

As many as three dozen protesters are outside the Cotton Bowl holding up signs directed at Penn State; others are angry at just about everything, apparently. Fans are reportedly yelling back. It’s just not a scene you want at a bowl game. Due to the graphic nature of some of their signs, I’ll direct you to the Twitpic of the protesters courtesy of Cory Giger.

Perhaps this should have been expected, but it’s a shame nonetheless.
