APAlready suspended for Arizona State’s bowl game by former head coach Dennis Erickson, Junior Onyeali won’t see those punitive measures end anytime soon under new head coach Todd Graham.
According to Doug Haller of the Arizona Republic, Graham has suspended the defensive end for failing to meet the “high standards of the Sun Devil football program.” There was no word on whether Graham informed Onyeali of his decision via a text message.
Onyeali was suspended for MAACO Bowl Las Vegas after reportedly getting into a heated verbal exchange with Erickson.
After being named the Pac-10′s Defensive Freshman of the Year in 2010, Onyeali’s 2011 season was marred by a knee injury suffered early on in the season. Onyeali started seven of the eight games in which he played this season, totaling three tackles-for-loss and one sack.
This is another bi-product of an Ericson run team. When you try to be the players friends and you have a loose structured program, it comes back to bite u in the rear. You need to keep your thumb on the athletes, otherwise they will turn on you which will led to your firing.
