McElwain adds experienced OC to Colorado State staff

Jim McElwain AP

A few days ahead of the BcS title game, Alabama offensive coordinator Jim McElwain has added an experienced piece to his Colorado State coaching staff.

The Rams announced Wednesday that McElwain has hired Dave Baldwin as an offensive assistant. ¬†Baldwin has spent the past three seasons as the offensive coordinator at Utah State, although it’s unclear if that’s the position he will hold on McElwain’s staff.

The school stated in the release that McElwain will announce Baldwin’s title and responsibilities once the entire coaching staff is in place.

In addition to the Aggies, Baldwin has spent time as a coordinator at Michigan State — McElwain was with the Spartans at the time as well — as well as at Baylor and New Mexico.
