Already in the middle of a three-year contract with Georgia, defensive coordinator Todd Grantham is getting an extension from the school, athletic director Greg McGarity confirmed to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Friday.

The details of the extension haven’t been released as both sides are still working through the process, but McGarity said the new deal is more concentrated on longevity than compensation; Grantham is currently one of the highest-paid DC’s in college football at $750,000 annually.

The Bulldogs finished the season ranked in the Top 10 nationally in total defense (No. 3 at 268.5 ypg), pass efficiency (No. 4 at 98.27) and passing yards allowed (No. 7 165.9). Georgia also ranked 11th in rushing (103.4 ypg).

UGA needs to keep this coach. He is the reason UGA has the capability to be near or at the top again next year in defense. He is one of the best in running a defense.
