North Carolina career backup quarterback Braden Hanson will transfer from the Tar Heels and enroll at North Dakota, a school spokesperson confirmed the Charlotte Observer on Monday.

Hanson, who sat behind T.J. Yates and Bryn Renner, graduated in December and will immediately be able to play immediately.

A three-star quarterback as part of Butch Davis‘ 2008 signing class, Hanson was North Carolina’s Gatorade Player of the Year, but completed just 11 career passes for 192 yards.

Hanson is the second quarterback to depart the program in a matter of days. Over the weekend, early enrollee Patton Robinette backed out of his verbal commitment with UNC and signed with Vanderbilt instead.

Can’t blame thee kid for wanting to play. Chapel Hill is a nice campus with attractive coeds, but you only have so long to play the game.
