As expected, Robert Prince promoted to OC of Boise State

It didn’t take long for Boise State to find a replacement for now-former offensive coordinator Brent Pease, who officially became Florida’s offensive coordinator today, replacing Charlie Weis. Probably because coach Chris Petersen knew all along who he wanted to replace Pease should he leave.

As expected, Boise State announced today that wide receivers coach Robert Prince would be promoted to offensive coordinator of the Broncos, becoming the third OC for Petersen in as many years. Prince will still coach the receivers group.

“We are looking forward to having Robert (Prince) direct our offense,” Petersen said in a statement. “He has been working for many years to become an offensive coordinator and I know he’ll do an outstanding job for us. I’m looking forward to what type of spin he’ll put on the offense.”

2011 was Prince’s first year back with the Broncos -- he coach WR’s in Boise from 2001-03 -- after spending the last seven years in the NFL and with Colorado, where he was the Buffaloes’ pass game coordinator and receiver coach during the 2010 season.

Although Boise State lost receivers Titus Young and Austin Pettis to the NFL, Tyler Shoemaker managed to pick up 994 yards and 16 touchdowns this past season.
