After just one year at Kansas State, which came after transferring after just one year at Tennessee, former No. 1 recruit Bryce Brown has withdrawn from school and could enter the NFL draft, ESPN’s Joe Schad reports.
Stunning news, I know. Brown has been rumored to be on the way out of Manhattan for some time now.
Brown had high expectations coming into Knoxville, but left after just one season with the Vols. He played very sparingly this past season with the Wildcats, rushing just 3 times for 16 yards -- all of which came in K-State’s season opener. According to Schad, Brown hasn’t officially informed the school of his decision.
Given the way his career has gone thus far, Brown is probably more remembered for being linked to NCAA inquires at Miami as part of the Nevin Shaprio scandal and Tennessee, where the Association interviewed Brown in connection to possible impermissible recruiting tactics used by the Vols. He was eventually cleared by the NCAA.
Earlier this year, K-State coach Bill Snyder said vaguely “Bryce is going through some difficult times right now and we’ll try to help him all we can.”
