Cross Dirk Koetter off Alabama’s offensive coordinator list

As Alabama continues its search for an offensive coordinator to replace Jim McElwain, who left to be the head coach of Colorado State, Nick Saban can cross one candidate off his list.

According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, former Jacksonville Jaguars’ offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter has agreed to join the Atlanta Falcons in the same capacity. Koetter had reportedly interviewed for the OC job with the Tide just a few days ago.

Interestingly enough, Koetter would replace the spot left open by new Jacksonville coach Mike Mularkey, who would call his own plays with the Jaguars.

Also connected to the Alabama job were Boise State’s Brent Pease, who took the OC job with Florida, former New York Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer and Washington OC Doug Nussmeier.
