Former Missouri quarterback Tyler Gabbert appears to have finally found his new home after spending 2011 playing college football musical chairs.
No promises, though.
The Orlando Sentinel reports that Gabbert will play for Central Florida, months after he visited the school. Gabbert is currently working on his degree from a community college in St. Louis after taking off the 2011 season. The quarterback could fill the hole left by sophomore Jeff Godfrey, who transferred from the Knights unexpectedly last month.
The Sentinel reports Gabbert would have three years of eligibility remaining.
Gabbert was in a quarterback battle with James Franklin last spring as Mizzou looked for a replacement for Tyler’s older brother, Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert. Although it appeared for a while as though Gabbert might have the upper hand in the competition, Franklin eventually won the starting job.
Gabbert transferred from the Tigers just a few weeks later and ended up at Louisville, which would turn out to be just a temporary stop for the quarterback.
And UCF is going to hitch its trailer on this flip-flopper?????
Yikes, here we go again! “Tyler…seriously…do you really think you’re ‘so good’ that you have to spend a whole year looking for a school who will have anything to do with you? Do you think that you will get UCF’s nod as the heir apparent to Jeff Godfrey, when there are others going for the same job? And when you get placed on the 2nd or 3rd string (again) QB position, will you (again) go pack your things and go searching for Emerald City? When will you learn that ‘you are not Blaine’ and that your last name does not assure you automatic success & fame? I hadn’t heard your name for so long that I thought you had finally seen the light; but apparently, you’re still stuck on yourself and trying to prove you’re worth the risk. UCF must be blind or desperate…oh well, let’s see how long after spring ball this new revelation will last. I am so glad that you left Nebraska….what a ‘joke’ you are, sonny boy!
ukeone….sour grapes or just plain, ugly jealousy?

It’s obvious that you don’t follow UCF. If you did, then you’d know that with Godfrey’s exit there is only one quarterback on scholarship at the school (Blake Bortles) who has only one season under his belt (in which he was #2 on the depth chart). UCF picked up two QB commitments this past week in Gabbert and Jonathan Wallace, so Gabbert will definitely be able to come in and compete for the starting job.
I’m not a fan of the drama that has engulfed Gabbert; but, I’ll give the kid a chance. After all, that’s what he is – a kid – and kids are entitled to make mistakes and/or change their mind.

If you’re a UCF fan, you’ll know “sour grapes” soon enough when dealing with someone like Tyler…..as far as jealousy is concerned, no single university or college knows anything enough about Tyler to be jealous of because he ‘never’ stuck-around long enough to even give us a chance to emit that emotion. UCF better make Tyler the ‘starting quarterback ASAP,’ or experience what Missouri did & ‘watch him go-off dreaming for bigger & better things somewhere else.’ History has spoken, or do you study history at all, jagwar73? And besides, there are no ‘sour grapes or jealosy’ when one is ‘glad’ to see someone go.

aetherthe: Obviously you haven’t read the news very often & followed this sad lad’s venture as he “made mistakes” and “changed his mind” so often that it could make any head spin. Just ask the coaches of all the schools he snubbed & you’ll know why. I don’t have to keep-up with UCF football to know where Tyler Gabbert stands. As long as their is “any competition” & the coach(es) become even remotely serious about “anyone except Tyler”, then you may see his butt on the way out of UCF’s stadium as he exits for bigger & better things. UCF is a fine school & has played great football in Florida.
And (now, thanks to your info) I see that you are in need of a quarterback…a good one….a ‘dedicated’ one who will stick around & be ‘part of a team’….unfortunately, Tyler does not play anything that has to do with ‘teamwork’….he’s a self-centerred, spoiled brat…and you will all see that soon enough!
I wonder if this choice has anything to do with his brother happening to play kind of close to UCF there in Jacksonville…
From Missouri to Louisville to a FCS school? What is he thinking?
