Another day, another Badger assistant bolts

Five times since the end of the 2011 regular season, a member of Bret Bielema‘s Wisconsin coaching staff has left for a job at another football program... whoops.

Make that six.

Kansas announced Thursday that it has hired DeMontie Cross to be the Jayhawks’ new linebackers coach. Cross spent last season as UW’s special teams coordinator and safeties coach. It was his one and only season with the Badgers.

Prior to his time in Madison, Cross was a position coach with the Buffalo Bills. At the collegiate level, he’s also coached at Iowa State and Missouri among other stops.

With Cross’ hiring, head coach Charlie Weis has officially completed his first coaching staff at KU. Cross’ departure also means Bielema still has four openings on his staff to fill.
