Memphis hands offensive reins back to old friend

LUBBOCK SEP 3: Texas State University v Texas Tech University

Between 1987 and 1989, Darrell Dickey served as Memphis’ offensive coordinator.  More than two decades later, Dickey has returned to the Tigers.

In a press release, new head coach Justin Fuente announced that Dickey has been hired to be his first coordinator.  Additionally, Dickey will serve as the Tigers’ running backs coach.  Holman Wiggins, who had been named as RBs coach, will slide over to wide receivers.

The addition of Dickey also officially completes Fuente’s coaching staff.

In 2011, Dickey served as co-coordinator/RBs coach at Texas State.  Prior to that, he had served as a coordinator at UTEP (1994-96), SMU (1997), Utah State (2007-08) and New Mexico (2009-10).
