Badgers hire away Nevada’s defensive coordinator

Thanks to upheaval on the Wisconsin coaching staff, Nevada has now officially been put into the position of finding a new defensive coordinator.

Confirming previous speculation, UW announced in a press release Wednesday afternoon that it’s hired Andy Buh as linebackers coach. Buh had served as the Wolf Pack’s coordinator/LBs coach for the past two seasons

“I’ve known about Andy for several years and had the chance to visit with him at the coaches’ convention in San Antonio recently,” head coach Bret Bielema said in a statement. “I came away very impressed with his teaching ability, his passion and his personality. He brings tremendous experience, being a coordinator at both Nevada and Stanford, and is a dynamic personality. With his wife being an Indiana native, this is chance for his family to get back to the Midwest.”

Before arriving at Nevada, Buh was the Cardinal’s co-coordinator in 2008-09.

Bielema has lost six assistants this offseason, but has made a handful of hires of late to counteract the attrition.
