Duke trio granted medical hardship waivers

Kenny Anunike AP

A decision by the ACC has extended the playing careers of three members of the Duke football program.

In a press release, the Blue Devils announced that defensive end Kenny Anunike, cornerback Lee Butler and quarterback Brandon Connette have been granted medical hardship waivers by the conference.

Anunike and Butler suffered season-ending leg injuries in the fourth game of the season against Tulane, while Connette played in two games before a season-ending shoulder injury.

Prior to his injury, Anunike’s four sacks was leading the conference.
