USC picks up huge lineman commit two days before signing day

No Arik Armstead? No big thang for USC. They’ll just pick up another giant lineman commitment with National Signing Day right around the corner.

Lakewood HS (WA) lineman Zach Banner said today that he will sign with the Trojans on Wednesday over Washington and Oklahoma. According to ESPN LA’s Pedro Moura, Banner, a five-star lineman according to Rivals.com, will also attempt to play basketball at USC.

We’ll see if that works out.

Banner’s verbal gives USC 10 commits for the 2012 class, although three other players have already signed letters of intent. Because of NCAA sanctions, USC can only sign 15 players on Wednesday, the first of three years the Trojans will be subject to such sanctions.

Still, this is a huge get for Lane Kiffin. Like him or not, he can still sell ketchup to a guy in a white shirt, even with the NCAA sanctions.
