Prosecutors in Sandusky case want jury from outside county

The date for Jerry Sandusky‘s trial hasn’t been set yet, but prosecutors on the case have asked a state judge to select jurors from outside Centre County, according to a report from the USA Today.

The prosecutor on the case, Joseph McGettigan, wrote in a request that “The citizens of Centre County feel a laudable and proper sense of ownership of, and participation in, the fortunes of Penn State.... To ask members of that community to break down that alloy and insulate themselves from the institution which informs so many aspects of their lives is asking too much.”

“It is unfair,’' McGettigan continued, “and impracticable.’'

Sandusky, a former defensive coordinator for Penn State, has been hit with over 50 counts of child sex charges. On Tuesday, it was announced that Sandusky would learn the names of the 10 alleged victims who testified in two grand jury reports against him.
