Ex-Penn State QB Kevin Newsome headed to Temple

Nearly six months after making the decision to transfer from Penn State, Kevin Newsome has decided on a new football home.

Citing unnamed sources, the Philadelphia Daily News is reporting that the quarterback will be transferring to Temple.  Newsome’s addition is expected to be announced when the Owls release its list of 2012 signees Wednesday.

As Newsome did not play in 2011, he will be eligible to play immediately.  He will have two years of eligibility remaining beginning in 2012.

Newsome was a touted four-star member of the Nittany Lions’ 2009 recruiting class, rated as the No. 4 dual-threat QB in the country.  During his two years in Happy Valley, he played in 15 games and attempted just 24 passes as he fell behind Rob Bolden and then Matt McGloin in PSU’s QB pecking order.

Temple is now one of the better programs and at a minimum, should become a FULL-MEMBER of the BIg East! Villanova has “black-balled” Temple from becoming a member because they don’t want to compete with the Owls for talent in basketball as well as football! This is WRONG! Villanova has lost alot of respect from as a result of this position.

Temple had been a member of the Big East and was cast out. Temple spends twice as much tax payer money on football as there closest opponent in the MAC on football but has yet to even win the conference championship. Temple DO something to show that you EARNED membership rather than it just be given to you “because”. Villanova, respect man respect!

WTF are you talking about? Temple won their BOWL game and nearly won at Penn St! You know Villanova “Black-balled” Temple and continues to do so. Frankly, after Rutgers leaves, the Big East will become a non-BCS conference if it remains a conference at all! Villanova should be ashamed of itself!
