USC reaches into Florida to pull out a five-star WR

Short on quantity thanks to NCAA sanctions, USC is more than making up for it with plenty of star quality littering its Class of 2012.

The latest addition to the Trojans is wide receiver Nelson Agholor, who announced early this afternoon that he is signing with Lane Kiffin & Company.  He had also been considering Florida, Florida State, Notre Dame and Oklahoma.

The Tampa product is the second highly-touted recruit USC has pulled out of Florida on signing day; earlier today, four-star defensive lineman Leonard Williams signed a Letter of Intent with the Trojans.

Agholor was a five-star recruit according to and the No. 3 receiver in the country.  His addition gives the Trojans an embarrassment of riches at receiver as he joins Robert Woods, Marquise Lee and George Farmer, although the latter could be moving back to running back.

When you get beat by Kiffin, for your own in state product as bad as that, if you are Mushcamp, you have got to be waiting for spring practice so you can show what you plan to do on offense. I guess this is more of the Charlie Boy Weiss legacy for the gators.

I think it has as much to do with the direction the programs are heading (not to say Florida is not going to improve significantly over the next few years), as it is the Weiss effect. Kiffin seems to be a big closer, which he needs to be during these scholarship restrictions. They may have had some transfers, but to the university’s credit they did not place transfer restrictions on those kids. I have a feeling the Kiffin and co. have a plan in place for the next several years, trying to get the pieces in place for a strong foundation (line players), and tying to pick up a few diamond skill players in each class. Hopefully it will work.

Kiffin is putting together a monster class considering the numbers. Sounds like they are about to get another 5* lineman from CA.

They also appear to have a decent shot at Myles.

    Fight On!
