OK, barnesaintnoble.. I have to admit that the Big 10 hasn’t done well against The SEC.

But every bowl game they play against the SEC is essentially a Home game for them! I know weather is a factor etc but I wonder how they would do if they had to play at Michigan, Wisconsin or OSU. And don’t say it doesn’t matter..just ask any Coach. It’s why most teams have a better home record than on the road.

Meyer will be seeing you guys in a couple years. We’ll see how it goes………

Whats the difference between Wilson leaving his school and the recruits actually never being at your school. Until their name is on the dotted line they are free game. Deep down they wanted to be Buckeyes or they wouldn’t have changed their mind. You say it was ok for Wisconsin to go out and get Wilson who was no longer signed with NC State but it wasn’t ok for Ohio State to go after the recruits that were never signed at all with Wisconsin or any other school. It can’t be ok in one respect and not in the other its the same thing Wisconsin took Wilson from NC State because he didn’t want to be there anymore and Ohio State took the recruits because they didn’t really want to be at those other schools either.

@general74 The Russell Wilson situation was different in two fundamental ways. The first is that the NC State staff basically told him they didn’t want him (kind of a Brett Favre thing where they were tired of him waffling between baseball and football instead of to play or retire). The second is that he left the school before other schools started recruiting him. With that said, as I mentioned earlier, if you want to play somewhere else go somewhere else. I’d rather have people that want to wear the uniform.

Urban Meyer is no pussy and he IS going to roll the Big Ten, and that conference had better get used to being with a TRUE competitive coach because this guy wont back down to anyone, nor should he. The Big Ten has has this back slapping Baptist church picnic of good ole boys mentality and makes it so boring, Meyer will push them over the cliff and be intense.

Fact is, the guy is Ohio Born and raised and he is an Epitome of a recruiter and coach. People can hate on the guy all they want but that wont stop the man, hes is focused.

I don’t know. I would have thought the evidence of Craig James calling down from the ESPN booth while broadcasting Texas Tech games and telling the Tech coaches to “play his son” (3-4 times) would have merited a post.

I find it funny that all of this is coming from a coach who stole NC State starting qb to lead his team to the Big Ten Championship this year. The guy didn’t really want to be at NC State so he left just like the guys who dropped their verbal and went to Ohio State. How it is really any different.

So coaches like Dantonio can leave one school (Cincinnati) and take another job like MSU and everything is fine. What about the recruits and players who were told he’d be their coach before he “flipped” his commitment to UC and went to MSU? Coaches can change their mind but the players can’t? Bielema and Dantonio just need to focus on their own teams. Coach Meyer isn’t going to change his ways because these two clowns are crying.

@frug – I find that quite funny about the ‘rumor’! Since Urban has done nothing but talk about the ‘dead period’ in most of his press conferences when questions come up about how he recruited such a great class in 2 months, he knows exactly when it started and what the rules are! He has absolutely said he has talked to a recruit’s brother during that time which is absolutely allowed. He cited the rule several times. Hell, he even has the compliance guy sitting at his press conferences because when one reporter asked a question, before Urban answered, he looked off camera and asked if he was allowed to talk about that particular recruit. So I highly doubt that any such violation occurred, especially given the NCAA probation the school is serving out.

That has be the dumbest thing I’ve heard yet. Only recruit your own state. I guess then Texas who puts kids on more rosters in the country than several states put together would just leave to poor kids who have no help to work at Mcdonalds.? Or I guess States like Idaho or Montana can’t play football anymore since they don’t have enough players? COME ON MAN
The system we have gets kids a chance to play at the next level that otherwise would never get to, and hense a chance at a education.

What I would love to see, but will never happen, is that they can only recruit players from their own state ( players could still choose another school on their own though)

Then, Wisconsin, Michigan et al would really be Wisconsin etc.

Without Ohio guys these schools wouldn’t be able to compete. I say, stay in state and let’s see what happens. And yes, I agree that the Wisconsin Coach should check himself after trying to embarass teams by running up the score!

@jason1214 I’m not sure exactly how you misunderstood the point of my post which was not an attack on you. My point was if he is such a great and hard working guy, how is he going to essentially quit on his kids twice? IN order to clarify my point, I’ll give further information. I am aware of what exhaustion is. If he truly was afflicted with it (twice), he would not thrust himself into what caused it again. The reality probably falls closer to his realizing his team was falling apart and was about to have a bad year, and he didn’t want to do the work to rebuild it.
