LaTech RB found dead in off-campus home

Sadly, Louisiana Tech is the latest in a way-too-long line of gut-punch tragedies that have hit college football programs over the past year or two.

In a news release, Tech confirmed that running back Tyrone Duplessis passed away early this morning at his off-campus apartment in Ruston. The release stated that the cause of death is currently unknown at this time, but an autopsy will be performed.

No further details were made available as well, although the school stated that grief counselors will be made available to the team through the university.

“Tyrone was a valuable part of this football family,” head coach Sonny Dykes said in a statement. “This is a tragic, senseless loss, but he made a lasting impact on this team, University and everyone that knew him.”

During his three years with the Bulldogs, Duplessis had played in 11 games.

Our thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to Duplessis’ family, friends, teammates and anyone else touched by such an unthinkable tragedy.
