Purdue was one of a few college teams to feel the wrath of the Miami Dolphins — the only ones, really — when defensive backs coach Lou Anarumo was plucked to join the NFL team.
Well, it didn’t take long for coach Danny Hope to find a replacement. The school announced Friday that former cornerbacks coach for Arizona State Greg Burns has joined the Boilermakers staff.
“We’re very excited to have Greg join our staff,” Hope said in a statement. “Having worked with him at Kansas State, he is familiar with defensive coordinator Tim Tibesar’s game plan and will be able to hit the ground running at Purdue.”
Burns spent the previous four seasons as the cornerbacks coach with the Sun Devils. Prior to that, Burns spent the 2007 season as secondary coach at Kansas State.
Ben – Fact check: Ken O’Keefe (Iowa), Jim Turner (Texas Tech) and Phil McGeoghan (USF) also left for the Dolphins…
…. right. Purdue was one of a few college teams to be plucked. Apologies for not explicitly stating the others.
The “only ones” joke was referring to how bad the Dolphins were this year.
