Dolphins announce addition of three college assistants

Following up on various reports from the past couple of days, the Miami Dolphins Saturday officially announced the additions of three now-former collegiate assistants.

Per the release, new head coach Joe Philbin has hired the following trio of coaches: Lou Anarumo as defensive backs coach, Phil McGeoghan as assistant wide receivers coach and Ken O’Keefe as the wide receivers coach.

O’Keefe had spent the past 13 seasons as offensive coordinator at Iowa before it was announced Friday night that he was leaving for the NFL. His departure leaves head coach Kirk Ferentz with both coordinator positions to fill; long-time defensive coordinator Norm Parker’s retirement became official shortly after the end of the 2011 season.

Anarumo had spent the past eight seasons as Purdue’s DBs coach, while McGeoghan was receivers coach at USF the past three seasons. The departures of Anarumo and McGeoghan had been reported prior to the O’Keefe announcement.
