Update: Raiders name Stanford’s Tarver new DC

UPDATED 4:48 p.m. ET: The Oakland Raiders confirmed Monday afternoon that Stanford’s Jason Tarver has been hired as the club’s new defensive coordinator.

Prior to his one season with the Cardinal, Tarver had been an assistant for 10 years with the San Francisco 49ers.

It’s unclear which direction head coach David Shaw will head for a replacement.

The exodus of college coaches to the NFL could continue into the future, with Stanford possibly being the latest program to lose an assistant to the professional ranks.

Citing a source familiar with the situation, the San Jose Mercury News reported over the weekend that the Oakland Raiders are interested in Cardinal co-defensive coordinator Jason Tarver.  ESPN‘s Adam Schefter reported on the interest as well.

Attempts to clarify Tarver’s status through the school have been unsuccessful.

Tarver has been at Stanford for just one season.  Prior to that, the 37-year-old coach worked as an assistant with the San Francisco 49ers for 10 seasons.

With you all the way. Raiders were on way to beating Ravens. Siragusa’s hit on Gannon one of the cheapest shots of all time.

    Hope McFadden is healthy!
