APAfter finishing out the 2011 season as offensive coordinator, Shawn Watson will continue in that role for Louisville in 2012 as well.
Confirming reports that had surfaced last month, head coach Charlie Strong announced via Twitter Monday that Watson has been named full-time coordinator.
“I’m very grateful for the opportunity that Charlie has given me at the University of Louisville,” Watson said in a statement. “I’m looking forward to working with this outstanding staff and a good nucleus of young and talented players.”
Watson was originally hired as Strong’s quarterbacks coach last year, but took over as coordinator after Mike Sanford abruptly left the program in October. Prior to his one season at Louisville, Watson had spent four seasons as Nebraska’s coordinator.
In addition to the expected Watson news, Strong also announced that Sherrone Moore has been promoted to tight ends coach.
