Less than two weeks after losing its defensive coordinator to Wisconsin, Nevada has found a replacement. Not only that, but Chris Ault has decided to shakeup the offensive side of the ball as well.
The Wolf Pack announced via a press release Monday that Mike Bradeson has been promoted from safeties coach to coordinator. Bradeson has been with Ault the past two seasons, coming to the Wolf Pack after a 15-year stint at UNLV that included time as the Rebels coordinator.
“Being a secondary guy, I’m confident that Brad will bring a new energy to our defense,” Ault said in a statement. “I feel that his experiences at the collegiate level over the years make him a very viable coach and coordinator for us as we move forward.”
Arguably the bigger moves were on offense, however.
In a departure from how things had been run, Ault announced that he will hire an offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at some point in the not-too-distant future. The offense had been under Ault’s purview, but adding a coordinator, the coach said, will allow him to focus on other areas of his team.
“My goal is to expand the Pistol offense by hiring an offensive coordinator who will also coach the quarterbacks,” Ault said. “That will allow me to focus on other aspects of the offense as well spend more time being involved on the defensive side of the ball.”
Also as part of the offensive revamping, Ault confirmed that running backs coach Casey Moore will no return to the program in 2012. With Moore gone, Ault will be in the market for three new assistants -- coordinator/QBs coach, RBs coach as well as a new offensive line coach.
